Session 4A
Dreamweaver--A Glimpse At All This Functional Software Can Do

-Set up and define your Web site
-Create the home page with Layout tables
-Use a Tracing Image to create table cells over a mockup
-Easily add links and images
-Create a jump menu
-Use the Clean Up Word HTML Command to easily import Microsoft Word-create HTML content
-Save commonly used elements as Library items
-Use the Objects panel to easily insert various elements on the page

Create a Custom Object
-Create your own custom object
-Open Windows Notepad or Mac's Simple Text
-For example, type the following code in Notepad (or Simple Text) to create
a custom copyright object:

<font size="2" color="#669999">
&copy; Copyright 2001, All Rights Reserved
</font>

-Save the file in Notepad (or Simple Text) as an HTML file
-Place the HTML file in the Dreamweaver/Configuration/Objects/Common folder

-Use Fireworks to create an 18 x 18 pixel GIF image that will appear as the icon on the Objects panel
-Place the GIF icon image in the Dreamweaver/Configuration/Objects/Common folder
-Be sure to name the GIF and HTML file with the same name

-Save the home page as a Template
-Use the Assets panel to insert copied images and colors to other pages

CSS
Remove the underlining from text links
-Select Window...CSS Styles to access the CSS Styles panel
-Select the NEW STYLE button
-Choose the CSS SELECTOR radio button from the Type section
-Select the a:link selector from the SELECTOR menu
-Choose the NEW STYLE SHEET FILE from the Define in section

-Select a font, text size and choose NONE from the Decoration section of the Style Properties dialogue box
-Click OK
-Select the EDIT STYLE SHEET button on the CSS Styles panel
-Select EDIT, then NEW
-Select the a:visited selector from the SELECTOR menu
-Click OK

-Select a font, text size and choose NONE from the Decoration section of the Style Properties dialogue box
-Click OK
-Select the EDIT STYLE SHEET button on the CSS Styles panel
-Select EDIT, then NEW again
-Select the a:hover selector from the SELECTOR menu
-Click OK

-Select a font, text size and choose UNDERLINE from the Decoration section of the Style Properties dialogue box
-Click OK

-Preview in your browser to see the CSS style
-Visited links and unvisited links no longer contain underlining and hover links use underlining for the hover effect

-Since we've created and saved this CSS Style in a new, separate style sheet file, it can easily be attached to other HTML pages
